Football: an 8-0 loss and a wonder goal
The Estonian national women's football team lost its second qualification group match for the 2017 European Championships, going down 8-0 to England.
Estonia lost 1-0 to Serbia in the first match five days ago and hosted England on Monday in Tallinn, losing 8-0 to the team which won the bronze medal at the last World Cup.
“We knew their strengths and thy come to play hard. They want to prove the really are the third team at the World Cup, even first,” Estonian goalkeeper Getter Laar said, adding that the entire match was hard, but Estonia managed to resist in the first half. England scored on the second, 34th, 40th, 53rd, 74th, 81st, 83rd and 90+2 minute.
Besides facing Serbia at home and England away, Estonia will play Belgium, and Bosnia and Herzegovina twice.
Jääger strikes again
In other sports news, Estonian defender Enar Jääger is enjoying a rich vein of form, scoring in two consecutive matches for his league Norwegian team Valerenga.
Commenting on his last match, a spectacular strike against Mjondalen on Sunday, Jääger said it was his best goal ever. His 22nd minute goal was the only goal of the match. Watch the goal here.
He also scored in a 2-4 loss a week earlier.
Jääger said he has never scored in consecutive matches before. He is yet to score for the national team, in 115 games.
