Sadeiko Wins European Youth Heptathlon
On July 17, 21-year-old Grit Sadeiko won the Youth European Gold in the heptathlon in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Sadeiko scored 6,134 points, the fourth highest score ever for an Estonian.
The record, also a personal best for Sadeiko, is 321 points higher than her previous best and only 46 points shy of the Estonian Youth heptathlon record set by Ksenja Balta (6,180 points) in July 2006.
"I believed that I would beat 6,000 points, but not by so much," Sadeiko told Postimees. "I didn't think even once of the Estonian record during the competition, but now I am convinced that soon I can beat it."
