Pareiko Barred From Three Games After Wisla-Standard Scramble
Sergei Pareiko, the star goalie of the Estonian National Football team, who plays for the Polish club Wisla Krakow, was suspended for three Europa League games by the disciplinary committee of the Union of European Football Associations.
In the final minutes of a game against Belgium's Standard Liege, a striker went to kick the ball immediately after Pareiko had grabbed it. Pareiko lost his temper and an ensuing scramble resulted in yellow cards for both men, reported Ekstraklasa.net.
However, after the final blow of the whistle, Pareiko again approached the other team and had to be restrained by his team mates. Other Wisla players were also aggressive, leading to a verbal dispute in the center of the field that calmed after a few minutes.
Wisla was later fined 80,000 euros for the rowdy behavior of its fans, who were banned from Wisla's next two away games.
