Enterprise Estonia to Send Tourists Into Forests
The tourism branch of Enterprise Estonia, the national support agency for entrepreneurship, has said that its 2012 promotion efforts will focus on nature tourism.
“Essentially, our goal is to send an increasing number of tourists visiting Estonia to the forest," Tarmo Mutso, Enterprise Estonia's director of tourism development, said in a release.
Mutso said he hoped that the 2011 promotion, which focused on Tallinn as the European Capital of Culture, could be used as a springboard to develop the country as a nature tourism destination.
“Tallinn is a fascinating city, but the Estonian landscape as well as bird and animal life is one of the most diverse in Europe,” he said.
The agency said that dozens of new or revamped attractions, which should draw in domestic as well as foreign visitors, will be opening in 2012 or 2013. Among these are the Wittenstein historical center in Paide, the Lotte children's theme park in Tahkuranna, Rakvere Castle's new year-round theme park, the renovated Audru motor racing track, the Kiviõli adventure center, the Estonian Maritime Museum at the Seaplane Harbor, the renovated Tallinn TV tower, the Laitse Youth Rally Track and the expanded Vihula Manor complex.
