Infantry Unit Heading to Afghanistan Gets Final Polish
The last training of the next contingent to be serving in Afghanistan, infantry unit Estcoy-13, will take place in Latvia from September 27 to October 4.
The eight-day exercise called Teraskilp (Shield of Steel) will be attended by a total of 300 troops, from the Scouts Battalion, 1st Infantry Brigade, the National Defense College and the Northeast Defense District. The training is a follow-up to a two-week exercise that ended on September 22 and also prepared the contingent heading to Afghanistan - infantry unit Estcoy-13 and logistic support unit NSE-12.
The units started moving from Tallinn towards Latvia at 6:30 on September 27, and the Defense Force asks everyone to be patient while traveling on the same route with the troops.
Currently the Estonian infantry unit Estcoy-12 together with logistic support unit NSE-11 is serving in Afghanistan's Helmand province and will be returning to their homeland in November.
