300 in Northeast Visit Naval Vessel During Exercise
Around 300 people came out to see the Navy patrol vessel EML Ristna during a Defense Forces exercise held in Narva-Jõesuu on June 11.
"Im pleased that the interest towards national defense and the navy is especially high among the youth of Narva-Jõesuu, which was an important stronghold at the time that Estonia gained its independence," said Commander of the Navy, Capt. Igor Schvede.
In addition to locals, representatives of the local Police and Border Guard Board and members of the Defense League and the Women's Voluntary Defense Organization also paid a visit to the vessel.
The Ristna is of Finnish origin, and the navy uses it for training reservists. During the exercise, 14 defense troops and five naval officers participated in navigation and rescue exercises.
