Young Greens Meet in Tallinn
A total of 150 young activists from 70 countries, all eager to spread green thinking and the principles of sustainable living across the globe, are gathering in Tallinn from July 19 to 24.
The six-day European Youth Meeting 2011 is being held in Estonia for the first time and is a warm-up event for the worldwide Earth Summit youth conference hosted by the United Nations in Rio de Janeiro next year, ETV reported.
Throughout the Tallinn event, youth from 15 to 35 years of age are divided into seven working groups and tasked with exploring a variety of sustainable development subjects.
Experts from the European Union, the United Nations, ministries and embassies will also be present, providing guidance for the young thinkers.
At the end of the meeting, the ideas gathered will be joined together in a declaration entitled "Fair and Green Economy," which will be used during the Rio conference next year, said Gabe Van Wijk, one of the organizers of the Tallinn meeting.
