The Tasuja Returns Home
The naval diving vessel EML Tasuja returns to Estonia today after five months of service in the NATO minesweeping group.
The ship (named after a motif in ancient Estonian history ) participated in three mine clearance operations in Dutch, Danish and French waters, an exercise off the coast of Scotland and NATO exercises. Altogether the Tasuja called at twelve ports, ETV reported.
The NATO Mine Countermeasures Group supports the alliance's operations at open sea. Estonian ships with previous service include the EML Admiral Pitka and the mine hunters Sulev, Sakala and Admiral Cowan.
The unit established in 1973 usually includes up to seven ships from the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Poland and the Baltics.
