Pulitzer Prize Winner Discusses Wikileaks, Arab Spring
Pulitzer Prize laureate Eric Freedman is in town to give a public lecture on Wikileaks and journalistic ethics at Tallinn University today at 16:00.
Freedman will discuss the international debate over the release of government secrets on the whistle blower website and how the various reactions to Wikileaks reflected the values, editorial independence, and the legal obligations of news organizations around the world.
Freedman will give another lecture on Wednesday at 10:00 about the impact of social media on political activism, with a focus on the Arab Spring.
Freedman is an associate professor of journalism and associate dean of international studies at Michigan State University. He worked as a reporter for 20 years in New York and Michigan, winning a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of a legislative corruption scandal.
