Tallinn Bankrolls Glebova Ahead of Olympics
The City of Tallinn is allocating 10,000 euros from its reserve fund to Elena Glebova, an Estonian figure skater preparing for the Sochi Olympics who joined the Center Party in June.
The city government said Glebova needs support to commission her program from a world-renowned choreographer and to compete in international tournaments in order to boost her points ahead of the Olympics, which will take place in February 2014.
The seven-time Estonian Champion is currently ranked 25th in the International Skating Union's standings. Most recently she finished 16th, achieving her best scores yet, at the World Championships in London last March.
Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar is also the president of the Estonian Ice Skating Associaiton.
