Watch Here: Tallinn's Pre-Election Debate in English
On September 25, Tallinn mayoral candidates and other high-level representatives from each of the major parties took part in an English-language political debate held in anticipation of next month's municipal elections. The above video covers the event in full. The audio quality is limited.
The two-hour debate was organized by the Foreign Chambers of Commerce in cooperation with the Foreign Investors Council of Estonia (FICE), and attended by members of the international business community.
The participants were:
Andres Anvelt, mayoral candidate, Social Democratic Party
Eerik Niiles Kross, mayoral candidate, IRL
Karli Lambot, head of Free Citizen of Tallinn electoral union
Valdo Randpere, mayoral candidate, Reform Party
Olga Sõtnik, Centre Party MP and city council candidate
Municipal elections attract special attention from Estonia's foreign community as a good portion of non-citizens are eligible to vote.
ERR News attempted to provide live video coverage of the debate, but our feed was interrupted about halfway through the event due to technical issues. We apologize for the inconvenience.
CORRECTION: The original version misidentified the name of the coalition fronted by Karli Lambot. It is Free Citizen of Tallinn.
