Earlier this month, the Consumer Protection Board ordered state-owned lottery operator Eesti Loto to stop publishing its jackpot estimates through media outlets and lottery ticket sales points.

Eesti Loto, however, did not take the prohibition laying down and the two organizations will start battling over the issue at the Tallinn Administrative Court on August 2.

Declaring the amount of upcoming grand prizes in the nation's two largest weekly lotto games - Viking Lotto and Bingo Lotto - can be compared to gambling advertisements, Kadri Kauksi, spokeswoman for the agency, told uudised.err.ee.

According to the Advertising Act, ads may not encourage people to participate in gambling or suggest that playing games for money could increase a person's social status.
