Jõgeva drive-in coronavirus testing tent closes
A drive-in COVID-19 testing tent in Jõgava has closed due to a fall in the number of people seeking tests.
"The permanent drive-in coronavirus testing tent in Jõgeva has been closed, because very few referral notes were being received there," Health Board spokesperson Eike Kingsepp told ERR Tuesday.
Kingsepp said that samples will still be taken in the central Estonian town, but this is now being done by mobile units.
The network of drive-through sampling points was first created on March 19 as the coronavirus spread, first in Tallinn and Tartu and then in smaller population centers such as Paide, Rakvere, Haapsalu and Valga, as well as Jõgeva.
Referrals for COVID-19 testing at any type of facility can be set up via a family doctor.
Jõgeva County well below national average
Jõgeva County has recorded just eight COVID-19 cases, the first on March 25 and the most recent on May 26, out of 2,024 tests conducted – a rate of 0.4 percent.
The current nationwide positive testing rate is 2.2 percent (1,870 cases out of 85,176 tests, since January 31).
