Weather Service warns of lightning this week
The Estonian Weather Service expects heavy thunder and strong gusts of wind in the first half of the week, chance of hail also not excluded.
The last few weeks of cool air has been replaced by summer-like conditions. Airflow has turned north and carries warmth from the Mediterranean to the Baltics. However, moving northward, air masses turn more and more unstable and favor heavy rain clouds.
On Monday, temperatures around South and East Estonia will rise to 25-29°C with rainfall of 20-30mm and gusts of wind up to 25 m/s are expected.
Weather will settle in the late night and there's small chance of thunder after midnight. The distribution of pressure areas will likely remain for the first half of the week, with rain and thunder coming every day until Thursday.
Low-pressure areas reign in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, however, is dominated by high-pressure areas.
