Estonia Reaches Finland's Domain Registration Level

Estonia has reached the level of Finland in the number of registered internet domains it has relative to its population.

Both countries currently have 50 national domains registered per 1,000 inhabitants.

In 2011, Estonia's dot-ee domain saturation passed those of Latvia and Lithuania, where the figure for each currently stands at 43.

Because of the nation's increasing domain registration activity, the Internet Foundation will lower the price of registering a dot-ee domain by 6.5 percent to 17 euros, effective May 1.

"We should definitely make an effort to make a dot-ee domain owned by every person in Estonia actively using their e-mail and the internet," Marek-Andres Kauts, head of the foundation.
