Hot weather continues into weekend, breaks early next week
The hot spell in Estonia is continuing into the weekend as daytime temperatures continue to hover around the 30C mark, and even in the morning thermometers are showing from 18C on Hiiumaa, to 23C at the opposite end of the country in Võru County.
These hot conditions, accompanied by a light breeze, that characterized the Jaanipäev holiday this year will continue through the day, though it will cloud over somewhat. The evening again won't provide much let-up, particularly inland where it may not cool down much below 27C.
The principal cause is a blocking high centered on Denmark.
Those looking for things to cool down now that they have finally heated up again may be pleased to know that as the weekend comes to an end, temperatures will start to fall, averaging around 24C on Monday and down to 19C on Tuesday. This will be accompanied by rain in places – starting from Sunday – and even thunder on the Monday.
