Two illegal crossings registered on Lake Lammijärv
Estonian border officials detected two border violations on Lake Lammijärv at the end of last week.
An illegal crossing of the temporary borderline between Estonia and Russia on Lake Lammijärv was detected by Estonian border guards at the Mehikoorma base at 1:28 p.m. on June 26 as a boat with two Latvian nationals aboard moved from Estonia to Russia and back.
The vessel was detained and the man, born in 1973, who had been steering the boat was fined €300, spokespeople for the South Prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board (Politsei- ja piirivalveameti Lõuna prefektuur) told BNS.
Another illegal crossing of the temporary borderline on Lake Lammijarv was registered at the Mehikoorma base at 8 a.m. on June 27 when a second boat drove from Estonia to Russia and back. The driver, a 60-year-old Estonian national, was issued a fine of €80.
