More failed state exams than in previous years
This year, the state exams received zero points for one Estonian exam, 20 in narrow mathematics, and 22 in broad maths examinations, which is more than last year.
Communication specialist of Innove Mari Annus told ERR every year there are students who still get zero points in some state exams.
"The student may have written something on the exam page, but not something for which points could be awarded," Annus said, adding that no completely empty exam papers were submitted.
This year, some of the young people in mathematics also were caught cheating during the exam. As a result of that, they were given zero points for the exam paper.
"This year, there were a total of four students who cheated. One was discovered during the exam and three during the assessment," said Annus.
Last year, one person also got zero in the Estonian language state exam, 12 students in narrow mathematics, and 15 students in broad mathematics.
Exceptionally, additional exams will be held in the autumn, where 2019/2020 students can register themselves. Students who have graduated from a gymnasium or vocational education institution in previous years can also apply for additional exams.
According to Annus, as of Tuesday, 286 people have registered for additional exams, of which 67 have registered for the Estonian language exam, 100 for the mathematics exam, and 30 for the Estonian language exam as a second language. In addition, there was no English language exam this spring, but 89 people have registered for the autumn exam.
