Estonia signs confidentiality contract with Amazon
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has signed a confidentiality contract with the world's biggest multinational retail and technology company Amazon. The contract gives a chance to discuss future cooperation work between the ministry and Amazon.
According to daily Postimees (link in Estonian), Ando Leppiman, the chancellor at the Ministry, signed digitally an agreement on Friday. The title (AWS Non-Disclosure Agreement) refers to the cooperation with Amazon which will happen via the cloud data system.
Siim Sikkut, the Deputy Secretary-General for IT and Telecommunications at the Ministry of Economics Affairs and Communications, said that it is a usual business to sign confidentiality contracts (NDAs) in technology sectors. It gives the opportunity to discuss cooperation.
Based on Sikkut's words, the goal of the economic affairs ministry is to further develop the digital state of Estonia. Estonia should have relations of cooperation and dialogue with all the major technology platforms.
Although representatives of Amazon attended the opening event of the largest data center in the Baltics, located in Saue, this does not mean that Amazon is ready to build more database centers in Estonia, Postimees reports.
