Comet C2020 F3 will pass close to the earth and can be seen with the naked eye in Estonia on July 23. Photographers in Estonia have already spotted and photographed the comet.
C2020 F3 (Neowise) is the first comet to be seen with with the naked eye this year. The second name of the come is Neowise because the celestial body was discovered while using the Neowise telescope on March 27 which orbits 525 kilometers from the ground.
The comet was closest to the Sun on Friday, July 3. The distance between the comet and the Sun was 0.29 astronomical units which is 43.4 million kilometers. This means that the comet was slightly closer than the average distance between Mercury and the Sun. One astronomical unit is the average distance of the Earth from the Sun.
The comet will be close to Earth again on July 23. It will be 103 million kilometers from Earth. During this time, the comet should be the brightest and most visible object in the night sky.
It is definitely not worth waiting for the same comet to be seen again as this comet will be next be seen from Earth in 8786.
