Late on Thursday night (July 23) an old industrial building on Tööstuse tänav in North Tallinn caught fire sending black smoke rising over the center of the capital.
ERR was told by the Rescue Board's emergency telephone service that a 600-square-meter old industrial building was on fire. When the fire service reached the building the roof of the building had already collapsed.
Firefighters from Kesklinna, Kopli, Lilleküla and Lasnamäe and the voluntary team from Hüüru worked together to put the fire out.
During this time Volta tänav was closed to traffic and people living in Northern Tallinn were asked to keep their windows closed.
At 3 a.m., the rescue service announced the fire was localized. The Rescue Board do not yet know why the fire started and or if the fire posed a threat to other buildings in the area.
