Paul Teesalu permitted to become Estonia's new ambassador to Italy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recommended the government propose to the President to recall Celia Kuningas-Saagpakk and appoint Paul Teesalu as the new Estonian Ambassador to Italy.
On April 23, the government appointed Teesalu as the Estonian candidate for ambassador to Italy and instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Reinsalu to seek Italy's consent. The consent of the Italian Republic was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 8.
Teesalu currently works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Undersecretary for Political Affairs. He has previously been the Estonian Ambassador to Egypt in 2010–2014, the Arab League in 2011–2014, and the first Estonian Ambassador to the African Union in 2013–2015. Since December 2018, he has been the Estonian Ambassador to the Holy See, residing in Tallinn.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends the government propose to the President to recall Sander Soone and appoint Miko Haljas as the new Ambassador to Ethiopia. The ambassador will cover the posting from Cairo.
