Kadriorg reading corner to be completed in early September
The construction of a public reading corner in Tallinn's Kadriorg district has begun and should be completed by earlier September.
Aigar Palsner, Head of the Urban Environment Department of the Tallinn City Center Government, told ERR the base for the reading corner has been completed and the walls will be erected next. It will be located at the corner of Koidula tänav and Faehlmanni tänav.
"A person can bring their old books, take books from there and read them. It's a community book rental," Palsner said, adding that there will be bookshelves and chairs inside.
The public space has been designed by architects Jaan Tiidemann and Jarmo Vaik, and commissioned by Tallinn City Center Government.
Koidula tänav is named after Lydia Emilie Florence Jannsen (1843-1886), a teacher, editor, writer and poet better known by her pen name Lydia Koidula. She is considered the founder of Estonian theater.
