Rakvere Hospital bars visits due to coronavirus risk
The main hospital in the town of Rakvere has barred patient visits due to the increased coronavirus risk. The ban starts Wednesday. Visits to Kuressaare Hospital on Saaremaa, and a care home in that town, are also off-limits.
Exceptions will be granted only when unavoidably necessary and then only to close relatives, with the prior approval of the medical department. The visitor must be in good health and must not have visited a country with a high risk of infection in the previous two weeks, or have come into contact with people who have been to high-risk countries during that time.
Personal items and food or drinks with a long shelf life can be delivered to the patients at the hospital doors. The packages are required to have the name of the patient and department marked on them and they staff will deliver them to the patients that day.
On Monday, August 3, Kuressaare Hospital also announced its visiting ban.
The move comes as daily COVID-19 reported rates have started to rise, following an outbreak traced to a Tartu nightclub after a carrier visited the facility in mid-July.
