Health Board: Seven coronavirus cases found in past 24 hours
Seven new cases of coronavirus have been found in Estonia in the past 24 hours.
Of the seven, three cropped up in Harju County (two of them in Tallinn itself), with one apiece in Tartu – scene of a recent outbreak – Ida-Viru County, Põlva County and Pärnu County.
A total of 1,238 primary coronavirus tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, the Health Board (Terviseamet) says.
The origin of one case was contact with an infected person, and in another an infected individual had arrived in Estonia from Ukraine, but in the remaining cases the origin is so far unknown.
As of August 15, eight people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, none of them on assisted breathing.
No new deaths related to coronavirus have been reported since early June; the total number of deaths reported remains at 63.
397 coronavirus cases have been closed in hospitals in Estonia, among 384 people (some individuals have had more than one case associated with them).
A total of 1,976 people have reportedly recovered from COVID-19 since late February. Of these, 1,501 have had their case wrapped up by a family doctor, hospital (see above) or other medical professional. The remaining 475 meet the criteria of not having tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days and not either being currently hospitalized due to the virus or awaiting a hospital to terminate their case.
133,506 primary COVID-19 tests have been administered by the Health Board since the end of January, of which 2,184, or 1.6 percent, returned positive.
An estimated 112 active cases remain in Estonia.
