Prosecution Impounds Assets of Four Secret Service Staff Accused of Corruption In May
The Prosecutor's Office has confiscated hundreds of thousands of euros worth of real estate, vehicles, cash, bank accounts and gold from four inteligence service members who are accused of corruption.
Postimees reported today that gold plates were found on one of the four Information Board staff. Their value, or the total worth, was not disclosed.
The daily reported that the men had access to funds used to pay foreign agents and were responsible for state procurements for the protection of embassies, which were classified and far harder to authorities to detect corruption.
Two of the men, Sergei Bõstrov and Pavel Kotkin, were arrested at the end of May suspected of embezzling hundreds of thousands of euros with the Information Board and the ISS, which is tasked with the investigation, remaining tight-lipped. Two other men, who have not been named, also face charges.
