Ratas discharged from hospital and recovering well
Prime Minister Juri Ratas has been discharged from hospital following an operation on Monday. A spokesman has said he is recovering well.
Head of the prime minister's bureau Johannes Merilai said Ratas (Center) was allowed to go leave the North Estonia Medical Center on Tuesday evening.
"Recovery is a matter of days, doctors have given hope that Ratas could chair a government meeting already on Thursday," Merilai told BNS on Wednesday morning.
An operation was performed on the prime minister at the hospital on Monday due to an inflammatory condition in the intestine.
Ratas said: "I would like to thank the doctors of the North Estonia Medical Center very much for their prompt action as well as their professional work."
According to the procedure for substituting government ministers, Minister of Finance Martin Helme (EKRE) will perform the duties of the prime minister until the prime minister's return to work.
