Health Board: 22 new cases of coronavirus diagnosed in last 24 hours
Twenty-two new cases of coronavirus were diagnosed in Estonia in the last 24 hours, the Health Board said on Wednesday. The infection rate per 100,000 is now 20.62 as a 14-day country average and 31.5 in Tallinn.
In the last 24 hours, 1,838 tests were analyzed. Eleven cases were recorded in Tallinn, two in Võru County, four in Ida-Viru County and one each in Viljandi and Tartu counties. Three cases had no information in the population register.
Seven people are being treated in hospital and one is using a ventilator. As of Wednesday, 2,213 people have recovered from coronavirus.
In total, 163,998 primary tests have been performed in Estonia, of which 2,585 or 1.6 percent have been positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The Health Board would like to caution people that 'close contact' refers to a situation in which individuals remain within two meters of one another for a period of at least fifteen minutes.
Attending a gathering when you are ill is a certain way of infecting your friends, the Health Board said. At gatherings people often spend several hours together in an enclosed space, speaking loudly at each other. This spreads the particles which can transmit the virus.

Harju County
The 11 cases added to Harju County - all diagnosed in Tallinn - are close contacts of a previously infected person. The circumstances of the remaining infections are still being clarified.
Of the cases which were diagnosed between September 7 and 8, a total of 10 cases were caught from family and work colleagues.
There are six active outbreaks under the supervision of the Northern Regional Department of the Health Board, of which 15 are associated with Nõmme Kalju football club, 10 with artist Edward von Lõngus' "Doomsday Cathedral" (Viimsepäeva katedraal) exhibition last day event on August 21 in Ülemiste, 11 with an outbreak at Gourmet Coffee and seven with a sauna party. There are a total of eight cases of outbreaks relating to workplaces.
A total of 885 people, 165 of whom are ill, are being monitored by the Northern Regional Department of the Health Board.
Harju County has now had over 1,000 cases diagnosed since the outbreak of coronavirus first began in February. As of Wednesday, 1,003 cases have been diagnosed. The county with the second highest total is Saare County with 557.
Ida-Viru County
Four new cases were added to Ida-Viru County, one of them in the city of Narva.
In one case, the disease was imported from Russia, one was caught in the workplace, in two cases the circumstances of the infection are still being clarified.
There are five active outbreaks in the Eastern region, the largest of which affects 56 people (31 of them are employees and 25 are close contacts of employees) at the Estonia mine.
There are 15 cases related to the Jõhvi Kelder bar outbreak in Jõhvi, 15 cases of coronavirus related to someone who visited from the United Kingdom, nine cases connected to the Ojamaa mine and 5 with Viru Prison outbreak (three employees and two employees' family members).
The Eastern Regional Department is monitoring 425 people, 64 of whom are ill.
South Estonia
The four new cases in the southern region are close contacts of previously infected people.
A spectator who visited Rally Estonia has fallen ill. The person was very diligent, wore a mask, used the HOIA app, and when he felt worse, he left the rally immediately.
Nevertheless, we ask the holders of RP6 passports, who participated in the SS1 (Tartu municipality), SS3 (Karste), SS10 (Kääriku) and SS14 (Nõuni) tests, to monitor their health and to consult a family doctor in case of symptoms.
As of this morning, there are three outbreaks in the Southern region in total - a family infection with six people, a birthday party in Võru with 16 people and a group who traveled to Italy which has nine patients.
The Southern Regional Department is monitoring 285 people with coronavirus, 33 of whom are ill.
In the Western Regional Department, is monitoring 23 people, 8 of whom are ill.
How can the spread of coronavirus be stopped?
- Stay home when sick even if your symptoms are mild.
- Keep your distance.
- In crowded places and especially indoors where it is not possible to keep your distance from other people, it is advisable to wear a mask.
- Closed, crowded spaces should be avoided if possible.
- Hands must be washed frequently with soap and warm water.
- When you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth and nose with disposable tissue.
- People who develop any symptoms should contact their family physician.

The free app can be downloaded at the Google Play Store or App Store. So far it has been downloaded by more than 100,000 people, 22 have declared themselves ill through the app.
