Drama festival chief-executive: We won't let people sit on floors this year
On Tuesday, the Drama theater festival started its run in Tartu bringing theaters and their works from all over Estonia together for a week.
Chief-executive of the festival Hedi-Liis Toome told ETV television morning program "Terevisioon": "Fortunately, the government allowed us to have 100 percent of the audience from the end of August and this really made the organizing team happy, but of course, we will follow all safety rules.
"We won't allow people sitting on floors and on the sides like it usually happens during festivals, but we will try to make the festival as good as possible."
Toome said that most of the plays have premiered this year or even earlier. "Endla theater's 'Tango' premiered a little before the emergency situation," she said and confirmed that Drama theater is going to be taking part at the festival after many years.
"Must Kast's 'Memm' will premiere on September 12, which talks about the relationships between grandchildren and grandparents. I believe that after the coronavirus crisis, people have thought more about how to communicate with their grandparents," she said.
The festival has been held since 1996 and brings the best Estonian theatre performances of the last season to Tartu.
