Rõivas: coalition talks to last weeks more
Reform Party Chairman Taavi Rõivas said the heads of the four parties locked in coalition talks have finished the first round of negotiations on priority topics, but talks are likely to continue for weeks.
“Probably already on Monday evening we should be able to have the opportunity to mathematically look at numbers and decide which topics can be pursued further, what needs elaboration, which financial sources we are all prepared to accept and what our maneuvering room is,” Rõivas told Postimees on Friday.
He said the four parties, which includ the Social Democrats, IRL and the Free Party, besides the Reform Party, have already debated many topics at great lengths, adding that currently it is clear talks will go on for another few weeks before the coalition agreement begins to take shape.
The Reform Party won the March 1 national election with 30 seats in the Parliament. The Social Democrats have 15, IRL 14 and the Free Party 8 seats, which means one of the last three can be dropped.
