Head of Rail Baltic: First trains from Tallinn to Poland to take to the tracks in 2025
The first trip on the high-speed railway between Tallinn and the Lithuanian-Polish border should take place in 2025, said Baiba Rubesa, head of the board at RB Rail, the joint-Baltic company set up to oversee the multi-billion-euro project.
“If everything goes according to plan, then the first train traveling to the Lithuanian-Polish border will start from Tallinn around 2025,” she said, LETA reported.
Speaking about the track from the Polish-Lithuanian border to Berlin, Rubesa said that should take five years to construct, adding that before that, plans must be harmonized and contracts for that route must be signed.
She said Poland must become an active member of the Rail Baltic project as the aim of the project is to create a new transit corridor in Europe, which will link Europe from Helsinki to Berlin.
