Eesti Energia to sell gas to households beginning November
Beginning November household consumers will be able to get gas contracts with Eesti Energia. According to the company, customers will be able to pick from contracts that correspond to different consumption patterns.
Eesti Energia announced that people could already request information today and register to be sent an offer in November for a contract for 2017.
Contrary to the electricity price the consumer pays, 70% of the gas bill will actually be the gas itself and not taxes, which means that the choice of utility could influence households’ spending quite a bit.
The company said on Thursday that it expected their new offer to give rise to competition in the end consumer market, and that it saw Eesti Energia’s advantage in the possibility to offer contracts for both electricity and gas.
Eesti Energia has sold gas to industrial customers for three years and has a current market share of about 25%.
