Southern Estonian timber company invests €7m in new machines
Glulam, or glued laminated timber, board maker Textuur, based in the Southern Estonian town of Karksi-Nuia, is installing more than seven million euros' worth of equipment purchased from the Swedish manufacturer Soderhamn Eriksson which it expects to put into service early next year.
"We've received another batch of new equipment," Textuur CEO and majority owner Argo Jõgi told BNS. "All the new machines will be launched together at the end of January."
According to Jõgi, the new equipment represents an investment totaling around seven million euros. The company also plans to hire 3-4 workers in connection with the new machines.
Soderhamn Eriksson is supplying Textuur with a Cambio debarking line, band saws, carousel conveyor belts, and Eurosaw and Catech saws. The new production line will enable the company to process 75,000 cubic meters of logs per shift annually.
Textuur produces pine glulam board and birch glulam for the furniture industry, furniture parts according to orders, as well as sawn timber. In addition, processing waste is used to make wood briquette, and the company also supplies Karksi-Nuia with heat as well.
The company earned a total of 619,000 euros in profit on sales totaling 7.1 million euros in 2014. It had a workforce of 160 people at the time, whose wage costs totaled 1.4 million euros. CEO Argo Jõgi owns 60.9 percent of the company.
