Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and presidential candidate Marina Kaljurand announced that she will begin part-time work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an adviser on cyber security-related issues. She will likewise be taking part in her first weeklong course at the Civil and Political School (CAPS) in Kiev in November.

"[My] presidential campaign was long and intensive and gave me a lot of food for thought regarding what could be done for the good of Estonia and its people," Kaljulaid wrote on social media on Tuesday night, saying that she needed and enjoyed her recent vacation but was now ready to return to active engagement.

"Beginning on Oct. 24, I will begin part-time work as an adviser on security-related questions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," continued the former foreign minister. "This means that I will remain a representative of Estonia in the UN's Group of Governmental Experts on Cybersecurity; I have taken part in this work group since 2014, irrespective of [my] positions."

According to Kaljurand, she had received a number of proposals from Estonia and abroad for the management of various projects, but also for lectures on international relations and diplomacy.

"I have always enjoyed communicating with students and giving lectures," wrote the former minister. "I will be taking my first weeklong course at the Civil and Political School (CAPS) in Kiev in November. And naturally I will continue with meetings and lectures in Estonia. I am so glad that young people are interested in meeting and discussing both current events as well as what is happening in broader society."

Kaljurand also noted that she would likewise be continuing work with her charity projects as well as promised to continue handling topics touched upon during her presidential campaign, including integration, youth, equality, equal treatment, the gender pay gap, violence against women and the hearing and assisting of the weak.

"These are topics that are very dear to me and to which I would like to contribute," she noted.
