Estonian, allied troops run to support injured vets' participation in Invictus Games
Nearly 300 Estonian, German and Slovenian servicemen took part in a charity run at Ämari Air Base, the proceeds from which will go to support injured veterans' participation at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
"I'm happy to acknowledge that we can now speak of a tradition already which has found its place in both the air force and the army," said Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Janis Jallai, a member of the board of the Air Force NCO Association which organized the event.
Accoding to Jallai, the organizers of the run were grateful for the contributions and support of all of its participants as the funds collected will go to support the participation of athletes from the Estonian Association of Wounded Warriors in the next Invictus Games, which will be held in Toronto in 2017.
The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event initiated by Britain's Prince Harry for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and veterans compete in different sports competitions, including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing. The first Invictus Games took place in 2014 in London.
