In October 2016, the production of Estonia's industrial enterprises increased 5 percent compared to October of the previous year, as production increased in manufacturing and the energy sector but decreased in mining and quarrying.
Manufacturing production rose two percent year-over-year in October 2016, with production surpassing the volume of the previous year in half of industry branches, Statistics Estonia reported on Thursday.
The growth in production was mostlue due to an increase in the manufacture of electronic products, electrical equipment and wood products. Production rose in the manufacture of building materials and metal products as well. Production fell, however, in the manufacture of furniture and motor vehicles.
In October of this year, 69 percent of what was produced in manufacturing was sold on the external market. According to unadjusted data, the export sales of manufacturing production as well as domestic sales fell one percent compared to October 2015.
Compared to September of this year, October's seasonally adjusted total industrial production decreased one percent, with production in manufacturing remaining on the same level as the previous month.
Compared to October 2015, the production of electricity increased 38 percent and the production of heat 13 percent.
