Grybauskaitė to visit Estonia next week
Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė will make a state visit to Estonia on Monday and Tuesday of next week, where she will meet with President Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor and Prime Minister Jüri Ratas.
Grybauskaitė and Estonian leaders will discuss bilateral relations, the enhancement of the three Baltic states' security, defense and deterrence as well as the implementation of regional strategic projects in the fields of energy and transport as well as other topical EU-related issues, spokespeople for the Lithuanian president said in a press release.
As Lithuania and Estonia both neighbor an unpredictable Russia and face its direct conventional and unconventional threats, both countries are thus bound by their efforts to strengthen the military, energy, information and cyber security of the region, effectively implement NATO's deterrence and defense measures, synchronize the Baltic power grid with the Western European network, protect strategic infrastructure from cyber-attacks and prevent the spread of lies and propaganda, the press release stated.
Innovations, advanced communications and digital technologies will be in the focus during Grybauskaitė's visit, during which the Estonian and Lithuanian presidents are also scheduled to open a Pan-European dialogue on Internet governance (EuroDIG) platform event.
While in Tallinn, Grybauskaitė will also lay a wreath at the War of Independence Victory Column in Freedom Square in honor of those who lost their lives for Estonian independence, visit the city's medieval Old Town as well as the Estonian Maritime Museum.
