Russia lifts sprat import ban from two Baltic companies
The Russian Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) has lifted its ban on the import of sprats from one Latvian and one Estonian company each.
According to the watchdog agency, the move applies to two companies for now — Latvia's SIA Karavela and Estonia's DGM Shipping AS.
"The matter of lifting the import ban on the remaining businesses will be reviewed on the basis of material presented by the appropriate institutions in Latvia and Estonia which show that violations were eliminated," the statement said.
In summer 2015, the Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of fish products from Estonia and Latvia to Russia, saying that it had detected breaches of veterinary safety regulations.
