Estonia piano to be handed over in recaptured Ukrainian city
Estonian cultural outreach is happening in the Ukrainian city of Slovyansk, which was won back from Russian-backed forces last summer.
While fighting continues to rage 100 kilometres south in Donetsk, today a delegation from the National Opera, led by theatre director Aivar Mägi, is traveling to Slovyansk to officially hand over a brand-new Estonia brand piano.
Estonian Ambassador Sulev Kannike and Slovyansk Mayor Oleg Zontov will attend a concert to start at 15:00 on Tuesday and to be carried live on the Postimees website.
The piano represents the fruition of a charity campaign held in the autumn. A total 34,467 euros was raised to buy the piano for the fine arts school students in the city.
Mäe will also meet director general of the Ukrainian National Opera to discuss cooperation in the years ahead, kultuur.err.ee reported.
