Trade unionist elected chairman of Unemployment Insurance Fund

The supervisory board of the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (Töötukassa) on Friday elected Peep Peterson its new chairman. Peterson is also the chairman of the Estonian Trade Union Confederation.
Peterson replaces Minister of Health and Labour Jevgeni Ossinovski (SDE).
The supervisory board confirmed the fund’s 2016 annual report in its Friday meeting.
The fund’s total assets amounted to €694.3 million at the end of last year, of which €352.2 million make up the insurance benefit trust fund, €172 million the trust fund for benefits upon lay-offs and insolvency of employers, €59.6 million allocated to labor market services and support, €68.5 million in reserve funds, and €42 million in annual revenue surplus for 2016.
