Criminal proceedings have also been initiated against the coach, Brazilian national Getulio Aurelio Fredo, who was women's team coach at top flight Meistriliiga team Nõmme Kalju FC, following the story coming to media attention just over a week ago.

Another case of alleged inappropriate sexual behavior on the part of a coach towards a young woman football player has been reported, this time at second division team FC Elva, investigative weekly Eesti Eskpress wrote earlier this week. The incidents entailed the sending of unsolicited nude photographs to more than one recipient, the weekly reports, and had actually been reported by daily Õhtuleht when they happened, nearly five years ago.

Portal: Court rejects wrestler prohibited substance ban appeal

18.03.21 SPORTS ... A court has rejected olympic Greco-Roman wrestler Heiki Nabi's appeal against a ban imposed by Estonia's anti-doping body last month. The ban followed Nabi's testing positive for banned substance letrozole earlier this year.

Nõmme Kalju sexual abuse allegations now with police, prosecutor's office

16.03.21 SPORTS ... A police investigation has been opened into allegations of sexual abuse by a football coach at top-flight team Nõmme Kalju FC. Two more victims have reportedly since come forward, following the allegations first made public late last week, by former women's player Mia Belle Trisna, against Nõmme Kalju coach Fredo Getúlio Aurelio.

Football league launches investigation into sexual abuse allegations

Another scandal has engulfed the world of Estonian sport, this one involving allegations of sexual abuse by a football coach towards one or more female players, while they were still in their teens. The Estonian Football League (EJL) has launched an internal investigation into the matter, while the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) are currently not involved.

"Estonian basketball 100" chosen as Tallinn's sports initiative of the year

11.03.21 SPORTS ... For the first time in 25 years, the traditional Tallinn sports gala, where the best athletes, trainers and organizers are celebrated, was cancelled, but an award was given for the events organized in 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Estonian basketball.
