Marten Liiv posts Estonian record, reaches Division A in 500m

25.01.21 NEWS ... Speed skater Marten Liiv made history at an International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup in Heerenveen, becoming the first Estonian to compete in a Division A race, posting an Estonian record in the process.

Tänak out of WRC Monte Carlo Rally, Ogier wins

22.01.21 NEWS ... The Estonian duo of Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja (Hyundai) dropped out of the opening round of the 2021 WRC season in Monte Carlo on day two, after a double puncture in Saturday's first two stages cost them time, ERR's sports portal reports. This followed a strong start on the opening day, Thursday. Veteran driver Sebastien Ogier won in the Toyota Yaris.

Kadri-Ann Lass and Uni Gyor notch first EuroCup win of the season

Culture minister proposes athletes be vaccinated for Olympic qualifications

19.01.21 NEWS ... Outgoing Minister of Culture Tõnis Lukas (Isamaa) wrote in a proposal to the Ministry of Social Affairs that the ministry should also consider athletes when drawing up vaccination schedules. Lukas would see athletes vaccinated after health care and frontline workers.

Snowfall has opened ski trails around Estonia

18.01.21 NEWS ... Recent weather conditions have led to there being a solid enough winter for skiing in Estonia. As a result, many ski trails are now open and conditioned for people to go cross-country skiing but people should still follow rules - both for the coronavirus and for general politeness.

18.01.21 NEWS ... Estonian biathlete Tuuli Tomingas participated in her first career mass start event in Oberhof, Germany, on Sunday, finishing 23rd in the 30-person race.

Tuuli Tomingas finishes 20th in World Cup sprint in Oberhof

15.01.21 NEWS ... Estonian biathlete Tuuli Tomingas came in 20th in the women's sprint discipline of the Biathlon World Cup event in Oberhof, Germany, on Thursday. Tomingas was perfect in the shooting rounds and will participate in the mass start on Sunday, January 17.

Jüri Vips officially announced as full participant in next Formula 2 season

15.01.21 NEWS ... Estonian racing driver Jüri Vips will participate in the next Formula 2 season as part of the Hitech Grand Prix team. The Estonian's team-mate for the season will be New Zealand driver Liam Lawson, the series announced on Friday.

COVID-stricken Kalev/Cramo loses in VTB United League

15.01.21 NEWS ... Estonian basketball team BC Kalev/Cramo, playing with eight players, lost their first match after a pause forced upon them by an outbreak of the coronavirus within the team. Kalev had to admit 61:87 defeat to BC Avtodor in the VTB United League.

Rally Estonia included in WRC calendar through 2022 season

14.01.21 NEWS ... Rally Estonia will remain a part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar in 2021, set to take place in Tartu and southern Estonia on July 15-18. At a press conference on Wednesday, the rally organizers announced that Rally Estonia will also be a WRC event in 2022.

Latest government restrictions cause problem for swimming clubs

A recent government restriction which means sports training for children will be off the table from Monday as schools also close amid rising COVID-19 rates has run into a problem already, since while the training sessions may be off, children can still swim – pools themselves are not closed – but without getting any formal training.
