06.08.20 ... On Thursday, government and the Health Board (Terviseamet) is to meet to discuss restrictive measures for the South Estonian Rally, scheduled for August 22-23. Organizers of the event announced on Wednesday that there are currently no measures set and it will take place at full capacity.
05.08.20 ... The spread of the coronavirus puts Rally Estonia's certainty in some jeopardy. The social affairs ministry has said that to make a final decision on the event, scheduled for a month from now and Estonia's first ever full WRC event, developments in the spread of the coronavirus have to be followed closely.
05.08.20 ... The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 2020 season has resumed, following the coronavirus hiatus, in Palermo, Italy, where top Estonian tennis player Anett Kontaveit (WTA 22nd) defeated Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (WTA 85th) 2:0 (6:3, 6:3) on Tuesday.

The Estonians came in second after Hyundai teammates Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul.
02.08.20 ... Triathletes Rain Seepõld and Olle Rõuk have completed their "ascent of Everest" at an ash hill in the eastern Estonian town of Kiviõli, the first Estonians to do so on foot. The whole trek took Seepõld, who turned 31 during the event, a little under 19-and-a-half hours, with Rõuk, 45, completing it in just under 25-and-a-half hours, with both men running, not walking, up and down the ash hill, through the night.
31.07.20 ... The Estonian men's national basketball team lost their second test match in as many days 67:75 to Finland at Kisakallio.
31.07.20 ... Before the World Rally Championship season can restart in early-September with Rally Estonia, Hyundai Motorsport will participate at Rally di Alba in Italy. Team boss Andrea Adamo says the rally is an opportunity to prepare for the roads of Estonia for reigning world champion Ott Tänak and teammate Thierry Neuville.
31.07.20 ... The Estonian tennis team rallied from a 3:2 deficit on the first day of the Merko Cup, to defeat Latvia 6:5 after solid performances from the women players. The overall victory was achieved after an intense, one-set mixed doubles match which Estonia won 7:5.
30.07.20 ... The Estonian men's national basketball team lost 76:97 to Finland in an exhibition game Wednesday. The defeat knocks some of the gloss off last weekend's victory over Latvia and Lithuania in a friendly competition marking the 100th anniversary of Estonian basketball.
30.07.20 ... The visiting Latvian tennis team holds a 3:2 lead over Estonia after the first match day of the Merko Cup in Tallinn Wednesday, with the women players performing more successfully than the men so far.

27.07.20 ... Rally Estonia organizers have announced the route of the race, Estonia's first ever full World Rally Championship (WRC) stage. The three-day event will see a 232.64-kilometer course.

The Tallinn Administrative Court acceded to complaints by Estonian public broadcaster ERR and media company AS Ekspress Meedia regarding a decision by the Harju County Court not to grant the companies access to the criminal case file relating to cross-country ski coach Mati Alaver who was convicted of a doping offense in November 2019.
24.07.20 ... 26 kilometers of southern Estonian roads will be upgraded by Rally Estonia for the event's speed tests later this year, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas (Center Party) said on Wednesday.

15.07.20 ... The Merko Cup, held in Tallinn at Tondi Tennis Centre on July 29-30, will see the best tennis players from Estonia and Latvia face off in both singles and doubles formats.
15.07.20 ... The Estonian National Museum (ERM) will become the center of WRC Rally Estonia on the first weekend of September, hosting the car park and opening and closing ceremonies of the competition. The museum itself will be closed for the period of WRC Rally Estonia.
15.07.20 ... Tuesday, the third day of the Moonsund Regatta (Muhu Väina regatt), saw 108 yachts with 700 sailors from Estonia, Latvia and Finland set sail from Pärnu. One of those sailors was Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid.
15.07.20 ... The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) will continue with Rally Estonia on the first weekend of September on the roads of Southern Estonia. Due to capacity restrictions, the number of spectators will be limited but according to preliminary information, a total of 20,000 people will get to spectate the event.
13.07.20 ... On Monday, Estonian ultramarathoner and triathlete Rait Ratasepp sets off on a challenge to finish 20 marathons in as many days. His goal is to finish all marathons in under three hours.
13.07.20 ... Over the weekend, the final matches of the Estonian championships in tennis were played, with Vladimir Ivanov and Elena Malõgina taking home gold in the singles. The pair also won gold in the mixed doubles.
13.07.20 ... Ragnar Klavan, captain of the Estonian men's national football team, helped keep his Serie A side Cagliari Calcio's goal untouched in Sunday's match against Lecce, but the struggling Cagliari was not able to score themselves. The team now sits at 11th and has not won once in their last four matches, scoring just one goal in that time.
10.07.20 ... Toyota Gazoo Racing will be bringing four cars to Rally Estonia, to be driven on southern Estonian roads in early September. Its lineup will, in addition to regular stars Sebastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä, also include Takamoto Katsuta.
