In "Exobiota," a new exhibition at Tartu's Kogo Gallery, artist Mihkel Maripuu explores this world in which the virtual and the physical have become intrinsically intertwined. 12.03.25 NEWS ... A riverside apartment building in Tartu has tilted so severely due to sinking that Estonia's consumer and technical regulators have barred anyone from continuing to live there as of this Wednesday. Residents of the sinking building have taken the builder to court.
11.03.25 NEWS ... On Thursday, March 13, a new exhibition by Iranian model maker Ebrahim Bakhshayeshi is set to open at the R Gallery in Tartu's Karud ja Pojad store. 27.02.25 NEWS ... In the ruins of the cathedral on Tartu's Toomemägi, where some time ago, plans were in place to build a restaurant, now a smoke sauna has been installed. The sauna, which was abandoned in its original location on Tamme Farm, Põlva County is now a museum exhibit the heart of Tartu.
27.02.25 NEWS ... The Tartu city government and the Rescue Board are inviting apartment association leaders, property management company representatives, and apartment building residents to civil protection training sessions to raise awareness about crisis preparedness.

A team of students from the sculpture department at Tartu's Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Kõrgem Kunstikool Pallas) secured second place at Nallikari Snow Fest 2025, an international snow sculpture competition in Oulu, Finland. The team spent three days carving a cyborg chimpanzee out of the Finnish snow.
22.02.25 NEWS ... By Thursday morning, the water level of the Emajõgi River in Tartu had dropped back below the critical threshold. According to the Environmental Agency, the city is no longer facing a flood risk.

Last year, the Supreme Court ruled that local governments assigned additional responsibilities under the nationwide care reform have the right to demand missing funds from the state via the courts. The City of Tartu, along with Põlva and Räpina municipalities, considered this option, and Tartu is now nearly finished drafting its claim.

15.02.25 NEWS ... For the past week, a beaver has been spotted hanging around the banks of the Emajõgi River in Tartu. Although city residents have been delighted to see the beaver, the frequent appearance of beavers in the city may signal problems in their natural habitat.

Now, Lüdimois has opened his own restaurant in Tartu, serving food that brings together flavors from all the different cuisines he has worked with in his career.

31.01.25 NEWS ... This Friday (January 31), a new exhibition by Ukrainian artist Kostiantyn Tereshchenko opens at Tartu Art House. "Civilization 'I'" features works salvaged from Kherson during its time under Russian occupation. Among them is a piece bought by an Estonian collector in 2022, which enabled Tereschenko's family to escape their occupied city and the horrors of the war.
