Paper: HKScan paid companies tied to ex-chiefs €12 million over two years
Last year and the year before, HKScan's Estonian operation purchased millions of euros' worth of goods and services from companies connected to its ex-executives.
Unlike HKScan Eesti's previous annual reports, the company's 2016 report listed separately businesses connected to its executive management and the value of goods and services purchased from them over the past two years, wrote daily Postimees (link in Estonian).
Last week, former HKScan executives Teet Soorm and Mati Tuvi were arrested on charges of embezzlement and money laundering on a large scale. Companies connected to the two men had sold HKScan Eesti pigs, eggs and grains for years.
HKScan Eesti's annual report for last year lists every company connected to its executive management: Lõpe Agro OÜ, Saimre Seakasvatuse OÜ, Linnamäe Peekon OÜ, Ovolex OÜ, Saumet Service OÜ, Helkma Trans OÜ, Hannora OÜ, Paadrema Agro OÜ, Farmitek OÜ.
In 2015, €5.2 million in goods and €1 million in services were purchased from businesses connected to HKScan's executive management; in 2016, €4.5 million in goods and €1.3 million in services were purchased from these companies.
