Estonian Railways records 2.6 percent drop in 11 month freight volumes

Cargo transported on the infrastructure of Estonian state-owned railway infrastructure company Estonian Railways (EVR) in the first 11 months of 2017 totaled 11.1 million tons, 2.6 percent less than during the same period last year.
Cargo transported in November totaled 1.2 million tons, indicating a nine percent increase on year, the company said on Tuesday.
Rail passengers, meanwhile, totaled 6.7 million in the first 11 months of the year, 7.3 percent more than during the same period last year.
In 2016, a total of 12.52 million tons of freight was transported on EVR infrastructure, marking a decrease of 2.9 million tons, or 18.7 percent, on year.
