International success for USA, Estonia film cooperation
Feature film "Spring", a co-operation project between the US and Estonia, has achieved international success and is #1 in iTunes horror films and #3 in romance films categories.
"Spring" is horror-romance movie produced by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, with visual effects produced in Estonia by FrostFX. It has proved a hit especially in the US market, currently ranking number one in iTunes horror film most-viewed list.
The film is about a young man in a personal tailspin fleeing to Europe, who sparks up a romance with a mysterious Italian girl hiding a dark secret. What begins as a romance in an idyllic Mediterranean town, takes an unexpected turn as the two lovers confront figurative and literal monsters in their relationship.
Marko Post, the CEO of FrostFX, said that visual effects carry a lot of weight in the narrative. Although "Spring" is not your average effect-based movie, they still have importance for passing on the message and giving credibility to the story.
US producers usually use well-known local visual effects companies but this time a successful co-operation between two countries has led to great result that has been acknowledged both by film critics and audience.
The film has participated in numerous European and US festivals and received a number of awards, including the Fantastic Fest 2014 Best Actor, Stiges International Film Festival Jury Prize, Paris International Fantastic Film Festival Best Film Award, and Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival award for best screenplay.
