Customs officers confiscated a Viking-era sword that they had found inspecting a Russian truck on Tuesday. Today the Ukrainian ambassador turned to the Estonian authorities with the request not to return the sword to Russia.

According to the ambassador, the sword was found not in Russia, but in Ukraine's Volynia region, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

The Ukrainian claim says that it was unlawfully taken from Ukraine to Russia. In the words of the ambassador, the sword is identical to a swords discovered in the Volynia region that went missing.
