Nearly half of national museum's 2017 budget to be spent on building upkeep
The estimated budget of the Estonian National Museum (ERM) for the coming year is 7.3 million euros in size, of which nearly 3.5 million euros will be spent on building-related management costs.
ERM Public Relations Manager Kaarel Tarand told Estonian daily Postimees (link in Estonian) that this 3.5 million euros will cover all expenses related to the management of the building as well as security, cleaning of the property as well as energy, communications and other services.
An important cost factor will also be human resources, on which 2.2 million euros will be spent, 1.4 million of which will come from the state budget but the rest of which must be covered by ERM itself. There are currently 144 employees with employment contracts with an average gross monthly pay of 902 euros on the ERM payroll.
ERM's 2017 budget is 7.3 million euros, of which its own revenue will account for just under 29 percent, or 2.1 million euros and the rest will come from the state budget. 55 percent of the museum's own revenue is expected to be generated from events organized, commerce and food service as well as ticket sales and educational programs.
