Põltsamaa Felix to cut jobs as dressings production shifts to Latvia
Põltsamaa Felix's parent company, Norwegian conglomerate Orkla Group, decided to shift mayonnaise and salad dressing production to Latvia, and while Gutta-brand juice production will be relocated to Estonia in turn, the switch will still result in 13 fewer jobs overall for the Estonian company.
"As juice production is in large part an automated process, it has become evident in the implementation of the new strategy that the business has too many positions in relative to its drinks production volume and, unfortunately, we will be forced to cut 13 jobs," explained Põltsamaa Felix CEO Kaido Kaare.
"Due to increased production volumes resulting from seasonal production, we can offer those employees whose positions will be eliminated other, temporary work in a prepared food facility," added Kaare. "If they wish, they can continue to work under the same conditions until the end of the current season."
Põltsamaa Felix currently employs nearly 200 people.
