Turkey is ready to build a mosque in Estonia provided that Estonian authorities agree to it, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in Tallinn on Thursday.

"If Estonians agree, we would be more than happy to build a mosque here in Tallinn or somewhere else — we would be very happy to support it," said the Turkish minister during a lecture delivered in the Estonian capital.

"This is valid for many European countries; Turkey has been building mosques and sending imams," Çavuşoğlu explained.

According to the visiting Turkish minister, representatives of moderate Islam should be active in relaying their message, as otherwise people will be left under the influence of those propagating extremist forms of Islam.

"The Turkish religious authority Diyanet is strongly against any kind of radicalization," said Çavuşoğlu. "This is the best way to actually avoid radicalization."
