According to sources known to ERR, British prime minister Theresa May will visit Estonia before the end of the year, where she will meet with the three Baltic prime ministers in Tallinn.

The purpose of May’s visit is to discuss the United Kingdom’s leaving the European Union with the heads of the Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian governments. The British government according to current plans will begin with the procedure in March 2017.

Though the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom decided in early November that it was not within the competence of the government to begin the procedure required to leave the union, May has confirmed that she nonetheless intended do so in March next year.

Government media advisor Ave Tampere confirmed that there was interest to meet Estonia's coming prime minister. May's visit would depend on when the next prime minister takes office, she added. The topics of such a meeting could be very broad, ranging from bilateral relations to defense cooperation.
